Tuscany Day Excursion from Rome

Your full day fairytale excursion takes place in Val D’Orcia, an intimate region in southern Tuscany.

Your driver will first escort you to the Umbrian town of Orvieto, about an hour outside of Rome. This lovely village was built on top of a bluff which you will see from the distance as you approach. The centerpiece of town is the amazing Duomo. You will have the opportunity to explore this charming town on your own, visit the famous cathedral and perhaps have breakfast at a local café.

Relax and enjoy the view as your experienced driver escorts you to the classic Tuscan hilltop town of Montepulciano. Walk through this quintessential town and make your way to the highest point of the city, where you will find the beautiful square, Piazza Grande. This is a great opportunity to step into a local enoteca to sample some of the local wines.

A short distance from Montepulciano, there is a tiny village in the Tuscan countryside where you will have lunch. Enjoy authentic food, vino and views. From lunch you will travel along the important wine road of Vino Nobile de Montepulciano as you make your journey back to the Eternal City.

Tip: add extra time to this full day to excursion and visit the wonderfully preserved village of Pienza, another Tuscan gem and UNESCO world heritage site. Take a stroll through this picturesque town and even taste their famous cheese — Pecorino di Pienza — at one of the many quaint shops to round out the day in the best possible Tuscan way.
