Astounding artwork lines the walls and ceilings of all the museums and cathedrals in Rome, however these days you do not need to enter a building to witness the brilliant work of Italian artists.
A recent boom of street art is changing the look and feel of the city and bringing curious visitors to unseen neighborhoods. Ostiense, for example, is an authentic Roman quarter where contempary artists and creatives are using the facades of old houses or abandoned buildings as a canvas for large colorful murals. During this three-hour tour we will show you a selection of murals while sharing the history of the neighborhood and how it related to Rome in the 21st century. You will learn the story of Ostiense and the socio-political messages of street artists such as Blu, Momo, Agostino Lacurci and more. We will stop along the way at an authentic Roman caffè so you can visit with the locals and sample a perfect espresso. If you’d like to explore more street art, this tour can be extended to a longer version on a Vespa or in a chauffeured sedan which not only includes Ostiense but visits to the Tor Marancia and Quadraro Vecchio quarters as well. After Quadraro, we will make one final stop at the nearby aqueduct park, home to miles of archaelogical ruins.
