This gorgeous four-hour tour is a comprehensive introduction to all the magic of Venice.
Our licensed guides will provide you with a thorough historic explanation of the city including its birth, peak and ongoing decline. It will include St. Mark’s Square and the interior of the Basilica, with an overview of all the major celebrated monuments. We will then board a private boat to cruise parts of the primary thoroughfare, the Grand Canal. We will leisurely sail along while you admire the surrounding homes of the wealthy Venetians, each palazzo with their own style and charm. For a more behind the scenes view of the picturesque residential areas and hidden gardens of Venice, we will navigate through narrow canals that are inaccessible by public ferry. Your guide will also cover the current problems with the preservation of this legendary city. We continue up to the Northern Lagoon to visit the island of Murano, a major center for glassblowing. During the week you can see an actual production line at one of the top glass factories. On the weekends, we will provide a shorter demonstration. We will return to Venice with plenty of time to wander the backstreets and savor everyday life in the intricate maze of ancient narrow alleyways and lively squares with magnificent buildings and meandering canals. Our tour concludes at the Rialto Bridge, the bustling ‘heart’ of Venice.
