The city of Rome has been the leading lady in the cinema world for decades. Our new cinema walk is an ode to the legend of Hollywood on the Tiber.
We have carefully mapped out a dramatic journey through some of the most significant locations shot by American studios for some of the biggest blockbuster hits. The phrase Hollywood on the Tiber, refers to the period in the 1950s and 60s when Rome emerged as a premier location for international filmmaking. We will celebrate this by visiting Castel Sant’Angelo, home to the first kiss of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in our favorite Roman Holiday, and the backdrop for Ron Howard’s movie adaptation of Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons. We will venture to bars and piazzas featured in Eat, Pray, Love and The Talented Mr. Ripley, and pass through Via Margutta, home to Frederico Fellini in real life and the main character in Woody Allen’s To Rome with Love. Channel the characters as you walk the same grounds, in the same churches, at the same restaurants featured in the timeless scenes of these momentous films. And our cinema tours don’t stop here!
At Personalized Italy, we also offer two exclusively-scripted itineraries: Fellini & La Dolce Vita Tour driving tour for all the Fellini fanatics out there, focused on many of the dreamy Roman spots used in his films, and then dive deeper into the Neorealism genre with our Neorealism & Pasolini Tour for true film buffs everywhere, highlighting cityscape locations in the very urban lower class quarters of the city from some of the most well-known movies of Rossellini, De Sica and Pasolini. Both of these extraordinary itineraries are offered via chauffeured car or with our scene stealing Vespas. The grand finale is when we ride alongside the rustic glory of Rome’s aqueduct park which lies in Cinecittà’s backyard and had a starring role in Fellini’s memorable opening shot in La Dolce Vita!
